NOCIONES PREVIAS
Para tejer estas manoplas es necesario saber hacer
un montaje provisional de puntos, tejer en circular en
magic loop, conocer la técnica del colourwork, conocer
la técnica del afterthought thumb, tejer siguiendo un
gráfico y cerrar puntos. Es imprescindible saber leer
gráficos, ya que las instrucciones para tejer las manoplas
con el detalle en colourwork se dan únicamente
en forma de gráfico.
CONSTRUCCIÓN
Estas manoplas se tejen en circular. Se recomienda
trabajar con magic loop o con agujas cortas de cable
de 23 cm [9”] (shorties). Se empieza con un montaje
provisional para hacer un borde doble en picot, seguido
del cuerpo principal que se teje siguiendo un motivo
de colourwork. A la altura del pulgar, se dejan los
puntos en espera en un hilo de descarte, que servirá
para luego tejer el pulgar en modo afterthought
MUESTRA
26 puntos y 32 vueltas para una muestra de 10 x 10cm [4 x 4”] en punto jersey a doble hebra, sin bloquear.
27 puntos y 35 vueltas para una muestra de 10 x 10cm [4 x 4”] en el motivo de las manoplas a doblehebra, sin bloquear.
24 puntos y 32 vueltas para una muestra de 10 x 10cm [4 x 4”] en el motivo de las manoplas a doblehebra, después de bloquear.
HILO
2 madejas, 1 en color 1 (color principal) y otra en color2 (color de contraste) de Baby Yak Lace de MyakFibres (100% Baby Yak; 350 m / 50 g; 370 yd / 1.76oz), tejidas a doble hebra.
Los colores utilizados son el Petrol y el Ochre para laversión marino / ocre, el Desert y el Emerald para laversión azul/topo, el Desert y el Petrol para la versiónmarino / topo y el Ochre y el Desert para la versióntopo / ocre.
AGUJAS
Agujas circulares de 3 mm [US 2.5] o las necesariaspara obtener la muestra de tensión, con cable de 80cm [32”] para trabajar con magic loop, o shorties de23 cm [9”] para no usar magic loop.
Otro juego deagujas (pueden ser un número menor) para recuperarlos puntos del montaje provisional.
OTROS ACCESORIOS
Restos de hilo en un grosor similar para el montajeprovisional y para poner los puntos en espera. Unmarcador para el inicio de vuelta. Aguja lanera pararematar las hebras.

SKILLS
To knit these mittens you need to know how to performa provisional cast-on, to knit in the round, to befamiliar with the stranded colourwork technique, towork following charted instructions, to make an afterthoughtthumb, and to bind-off stitches. Moreover, itis essential to be able to follow charted instructions, asthey are used for the colourwork detail of the cowl andwritten instructions are not provided.
CONSTRUCTION
These mittens are worked in the round, starting with aprovisional cast-on to make a folded cuff with a picotedge, followed by the main part of the mittens, whichare worked following a charted colourwork motif. The stitches for the thumb are placed on leftover yarn, toknit it at the end as an afterthought thumb. It is recommendedto work them on magic loop, or with 23cm [9”]-cable short needles.
GAUGE
26 stitches and 32rounds in 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4”] in stockinettestitch holding two strands together, without blocking.
27 stitches and 35 rounds in 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4”] incolourwork motif holding two strands together, withoutblocking.
24 stitches and 32 rounds in 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4”]in colourwork motif holding two strands together,after blocking.
YARN
2 skeins, 1 in Colour 1 (main colour) and 1 in Colour 2(contrast colour) of Baby Yak Lace by Myak Fibres(100% Baby Yak; 350 m / 100 g ; 370 yd / 3.52 oz),each colour worked held double.
The colourways used are Petrol and Ochre for thenavy blue / ochre version; Desert and Emerald for theblue / taupe version; Desert and Petrol for the navyblue / taupe version; and Ochre and Desert for thetaupe / ochre version.
NEEDLES
3 mm [US 2.5] circular needles or the required needlesize to obtain gauge, with a cable length of 80 cm[32”] to work on magic loop, or 23 cm [9”] shorties tonot work on magic loop. Another set of needles (theycan be a size smaller) to pick up the stitches from theprovisional cast-on.
OTHER NOTIONS
Leftover yarn in a similar weight for the provisionalcast-on and to place stitches on hold. 1 stitch markerfor the beginning of the round. Tapestry needle toweave in ends.
