NOCIONES PREVIAS
Para tejer estos calcetines es necesario realizar un montaje provisional, tejer punto derecho y revés, tejer en circular y la técnica del magic loop, unir puntos con el método de las tres agujas, así como tejer colourwork, dejar puntos en espera, levantarlos y tejer un talón afterthought, hacer disminuciones y cerrar puntos mediante el método Kitchener.
 
CONSTRUCCIÓN
Estos calcetines se tejen de arriba abajo, del borde superior a la puntera, y llevan un talón “afterthought”, es decir, que se teje al final después de haber acabado de tejer el calcetín, a partir de puntos que se dejan en espera en una línea provisional tejida con restos de hilo de contraste. Ambos calcetines se tejen igual, empezando con un borde en punto jersey, seguido de un motivo en colourwork con textura en la caña, después del cual se dejan en espera los puntos para el talón, se trabaja el pie en punto jersey en color principal y se le da forma a la puntera mediante disminuciones. Al final, se levantan los puntos para el talón y se le da forma de la misma manera que a la puntera. El patrón está escrito para trabajar en magic loop, y se dan instrucciones tanto en gráfico como escritas para el patrón de puntos de colourwork con textura (que incluye puntos del derecho y del revés).

Alto de la caña: 14 cm [5.75”] aprox. hasta el inicio del talón.
Circunferencia: 20.5 (23, 25.5) cm [8 (9, 10)”].
 
MUESTRA
26 puntos y 40 vueltas para una muestra de 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4”] en punto jersey en plano, después de bloquear.
 
AGUJAS
Dos juegos de agujas circulares de 2.5 mm [US 1.5] y cable de 80 cm [32”], o las necesarias para obtener la muestra de tensión (después de bloquear).
 
HILO
2 (2, 2) madejas de Sosoft Sock de Feliz y Punto Yarns (20% superfine alpaca, 60% superwash merino, 20% nylon; 400 m / 100 g; 437 yd / 3.52 oz).
Los colores utilizados son el Tee solid como el color principal y el Dark milori como el color de contraste. Con dos madejas tienes suficiente para tejer dos pares de calcetines de cualquier talla en colores invertidos. Con una madeja y una mini tienes suficiente para un par.
 
OTROS ACCESORIOS
Un marcador para el inicio de vuelta y otro para las disminuciones. Aguja lanera para rematar las hebras. Restos de hilo en un grosor similar en color de contraste para el montaje provisional y para poner los puntos en espera para el talón afterthought.

ABOUT
These socks are worked top down, from the cuff to the toe, featuring colourwork on the leg and an Afterthought Heel. Both socks are worked alike starting with a folded Stockinette Stitch cuff followed by a texture  colourwork pattern over the leg. After the leg is completed, stitches for the heel are put provisionally on hold and the foot is worked in Stockinette Stitch.
The toe is finished with decreases. At the end, the stitches for the heels are picked up and the heel is shaped the same way as the toe.

Inspiration for this pattern comes from playing with knit and purl stitches in colourwork, about how a simple geometry yields a beautiful texture. Socks, in the end, are an architectural project, composed of small constructions and techniques intermingled to create a sensation. With the motif, the colour, and the texture of purl stitches, a feeling of calm and serenity is achieved by the simplest geometry.

This pattern was originally published by Laine Publishing in 52 of Socks Vol. 2. It is written here with the same original style of the book, which is why it is not exactly the same as the rest of my patterns.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Foot circumference: 8 (9, 10)” / 20.5 (23, 25.5) cm.
Leg length: approx 5.75” / 14 cm or desired length util the beginning of the heel.
 
MATERIALS
Yarn: 2 (2, 2) skeins of Sosoft Sock by Feliz y Punto Yarns (20% superfine alpaca, 60% superwash merino, 20% nylon, 437 yds / 400 m – 100 g), colourways Tee solid (MC) and Dark milori (CC). Or 437 (437, 437) yds / 400 (400, 400) m of fingering weight yarn in MC and 190 (109, 109) yds / 100 (100, 100) m of fingering weight yarn in CC.
Needles: Two sets of US 1.5 / 2.5 mm 32” / 80 cm circular needles.
Notions: Two removable stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn in a contrast colour to work the provisional row of stitches for the heel and the provisional cast-on.
 
GAUGE
26 sts x 40 rounds to 4” / 10 cm on US 1.5 / 2.5 mm needles in stockinette stitch, after blocking.
